is and Moonalice After Three Nightcaps, There Was No Moon. According to Moonalice legend, this is our favorite weekend of the year ... It started with Halloween, but the big enchilada comes in a few hours, when we begin the only 25-hour day of the year. Tonight's poster by Carolyn Ferris depicts the person responsible for the extra hour: Fallback Moonalice and her swan, Fluffy. This year Fallback and Fluffy kidnapped the moon at a Halloween party - the moon went as Snidely Whiplash - and won't let it free until sunset tomorrow. Fallback asked me to pass along a message ... she said, "you're welcome!" Notes: Jason Crosby played fiddle on American Dream Rag, piano on Nick of Time and piano/fiddle on And It Stoned Me to the end of the show.

#M723 LOVERS Carolyn Ferris and Moonalice © 2014 at Sweetwater in Mill Valley, CA. According to Moonalice legend, one of the little known historical facts about Psychedelic Sunday is that it began with a Psychedelic Sunday Prom. It was a big affair, filled with music, dance, fancy outfits and, of course, fine cannabis. That first Prom even had a Homecoming Court. As today’s poster by Carolyn Ferris shows, the Homecoming King and Queen were people with great vision. What the poster doesn’t show is the reason why they needed great vision. They needed a third eye to avoid the Homecoming Jester. Not only was the Jester not funny, he took every lighter he put his hands on. And worse still, he left a trail of hickies all over the Homecoming King.

#M712 LION Carolyn Ferris and Moonalice © 2014 at Soda Rock WInery in Healdsburg, CA on June 6, 2014 Moonalice Legend: According to Moonalice legend, Healdsburg is a very unusual place. You all know about Soda Creek, the only river in America filled with Diet Coke and Pepperidge Farm fish. But do you know about Kitteh the Three-Eyed Lion? Kitteh’s 3rd eye is a remarkable evolutionary development: it allows Kitteh to see great weed as far as five miles away. Judging from the poster by Carolyn Ferris, there is a whole lot of fine cannabis right here at winery! Enjoy!!

Moonalice Legend: According to Moonalice legend, Moonalice played its first show seven years ago this week … on May 5, 2007. Since then, we have played nearly 700 shows and produced more than 700 posters. For this, the first show of our 8th year, Carolyn Ferris has produced a wonderful poster featuring Birthday Suit Moonalice, the tribal pixie responsible for the distribution of birthday presents. Birthday Suit lives in the 8th dimension, from which she tracks members of our tribe through what appears to be stained glass window. In reality, the stained glass is actually a reverse tractor beam with enough energy to transport tasty nugs to deserving tribe members on the anniversary of their birth. Eight dimensions of stained glass is not easy to operate, even with a magic wand, so if it suddenly starts raining cannabis, you will know why!!!

#M655 MOON LOUNGE Carolyn Ferris and Moonalice © 2013 at 19 Broadway in Fairfax, CA with subliminal lettering, can you see it? October 22, 2013, Moonalice Legend: According to Moonalice legend, tonight’s poster by Carolyn Ferris depicts Luna Moonalice in a characteristic pose. Luna was two-faced — she admitted it — but in her case, two faces doubled the probability that men would look her in the eye instead of … well, you know. Luna is the patron saint of many things, but tonight — on the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK — we acknowledge her as the protector of grassy knolls and conspiracy theories!!! Separately from this Moonalice Legend, from Carolyn: “This is my first original painting since 1999, it’s called Moon Lounge. The lettering is subliminal. This woman is taking some getaway time out. Her Medusa like hair has turned from snakes to mushrooms. She’s brought music along with her and thoughts of her man (skirt metaphor) for a relaxing outing. Think about taking a trip somewhere far enough away to give yourself time to relax. If you can’t fly to the moon, try looking over a gorgeous precipice and count all in your world for which you are grateful. Then, get to 19 Broadway in Fairfax on Friday the 22nd for a fabulous Moonalice show, it will light up your night.”

#M558 ON PLANET ZANEY Carolyn Ferris and Moonalice © 2013 at Heller Aviation Museum in San Carlos, CA: A benefit for: My New Red Shoes March 13, 2013: Moonalice Legend: According to Moonalice legend, tonight’s poster by Carolyn Ferris depicts Scarlett Footwear Moonalice, who insisted that everyone in our tribe have a pair of shoes. In the old days, our tribe was less than diligent in cleaning up after the many dogs, horses, and wombats that lived with them and Scarlett insisted that everyone protect their feet. As she was fond of saying, her middle name was Footwear!! So every year she gave every Moonalice a new pair of shoes. Most of the shoes were brown, but if you were really, really good, the shoes she gave you were red.
